Lost Lover

Elle King

There is a ball inside my chest

A heavy stone of pain

A swirling mix of loneliness

A yearning mixed with shame.

Your memories bump inside my head

A longing fills my brain

I feel so empty on the inside

Yet strangely full of clouds and rain

  • Comment from author about the poem: To my first ever love at the age of 17. These feelings lingered for many many years and haunted me after a traumatic and terrible breakup. There will always be a part of my heart that loves him.
