CHURCH BELLS

nephilim56

You can hear St Oswalds church bells
From the coast to the south
Heard by happy people
And those down and out.

The tail end of the storm
Its steady rain hits stony ground
Theres a chilly wind that blows
About the homeless in the town.

The drug addicted , the broken hearted
The soldier without uniform
They huddle close together
Desperate for warmth.

As if a forsaken army
Ridiculed, despised
By so many people
Who callously walk by.

They are someones wife or brother
Someones husband , someones child
But not wanted or forgiven
By those watching cruel eyes.
