The Big Boy Dance

GeekSusie

A dawn has broken on the globe,

A clarion call echoes in the soul.

The time has come, you must understand,

To cease reliance on the distant hand.

Wash the crutch of subsidies away,

Raise yourself to greet the day.

Bounties gathered not by state,

But by the fruit of personal fate.

Entitlement, a false dawn glow,

Sow the seeds, reap what you grow.

Shatter chains of the victim's play,

Don the mantle of the doer today.

In the mirror, a victor see,

Bound not by handouts, but by decree.

Of self-reliance, strength within,

The story of triumph is yours to begin.

Governments' largesse, a fleeting charm,

But self-reliance, a lasting balm.

Tis time, dear friend, for big boy pants,

In the theater of life, to dance your dance.

Stop the cries of the weak and mild,

Rise, take charge, don't be beguiled.

Each person, their destiny holds,

Crafted not in council folds.

But in the forge of grit and grind,

Where hearts aflame, their purpose find.

Stand tall, stand strong, let's cease the play,

The time for accountability is today.

I like the tone of strength, accountability, and self reliance. Also that your poetry sounds without gender. It is also relatable to any political camp or conviction.

    Fantastic. Very well crafted.
