Beyond the Valley

aa.alpizar

I’m alone in the valley.
Hiding and taking cover.
Licking my wounds as I try to recover.
Alone in the darkness, I keep looking for a way out.

To pick myself off the floor,
and get back on track.
To regain my composure,
And finally bounce back.

To carry the weight.
To withstand this test of faith.
To endure the wait.
To one day escape.

I’ll swim against the current,
and navigate past the mist.
I’ll walk out of the forest,
and climb up the mountain.

To release my burdens,
and relieve my shoulders,
To let the yoke fall off.
To be absolved, and let my hands wash off.

To overcome the downpour.
To move forward when the rain won’t letup.
To pick yourself back up.
To be worthy, to have your efforts be enough.

To break the shackles;
To refuse to be buried alive.
To find a way out,
And bury the doubt.

To wash your hands off.
To find a way out.
To find a way.
To know, past the valley there’s a beautiful display
