course on cause

Chenjerai Mhondera

sadness encroached and said to me
"why are you not sad?"
and i said, "because i am happy."
"happy who?" she asked
"happy - happiness." i answered;
unafraid that i'd exposed happy to sad
and happiness to sadness;
blinking with intense anger and hatred,
envy and jealousy
against happy happying with happiness.

and

even as i greet and handshake saddiness,
i allow not sorrow to touch
and th-ro-w me in her own abyss

because,
because,
because,

i am course on a cause
