Autumn's Kiss

Firefall

They moved together silently in the wind of an early autumn dream

In each other they saw only the lingering beauty of warm days and cool nights

A kaleidoscope of colors illuminated by the sun's rays and sweet dew's kiss

First green then yellow, orange and red;

Now burgundy, gold and brown

They weren't foolish to believe they had forever like a fiery summer night

It was their last chance to live (to love) before winter's rage

Yet time was uncertain regarding when the final leaves would fall

So they held each other and believed in eternity

Sealed with a kiss as fall's shooting stars lit up the frosty night sky

        Autumn is my favorite time of the year, and you have so exquisitely framed it around this tale of love. Beautiful imagery paints this wonderful scene, and the last line is icing on the cake. Loved every line!
