When I was Broken

Notice of absence from Hey-Madison
I probably have writer's block, or I'm getting an education, either way, check out more of my work on my profile.

When I was broken
I couldn't see myself
I looked in the mirror
What's that there?
Why does she look like that
All broken and lost

When I was broken
I couldn't feel myself
I touched myself everywhere
What is this?
All I could feel
Was fear and a drop of a tear

When I was broken, like shattered glass,
In the depths of despair, I couldn't pass.
Life's storms had left their scars on me,
But in that darkness, I began to see.
Through the cracks, the light would seep,
A glimmer of hope, no longer asleep.
In the ruins, I found the strength to mend,
A journey of healing, from start to end.
With time, the pieces came together,
In each shard, I found a treasure.
When I was broken, I learned to stand,
Stronger now, with life in my hand.

When i was broken, I could find no way out,
The abuse wouldn't stop, I wanted to scream and shout,
When I was broken, there was no body there,
No one to help me, no one else to care,
But I broke free and found the Lord above,
Who is the only one that knows true love

  • Comment from author about the poem: Stanza must be 6 lines, no rhyme necessary but very much welcome. Please write about a time you felt broken or lost, and try to get as vulnerable as possible. I know this may be a hard task, but it's important for people's stories to be heard.
