I Think of You

TheBlob

The first day we ever hugged
And the last day we ever talked
It all felt so warm
If only it wasn’t just a memory

Now, the leaves turn
Bright oranges and reds
Yellows and browns
And fall to the ground
I think of you when I see the beauty
A love that was once there

Maybe some day
When the snow falls down
On the ever so cold ground
When the birds don’t make a sound
You’ll think of me too
In the same way I think of you
And you will send me a gift
Like you promised you would
Though I know that will never happen

And maybe some day
In the sweet season of spring
When every flower reminds me of you
You will see a flower
That reminds you of me, too

And in the hot days of summer
When the bugs are out
You’ll be annoyed by them
As you were by me
Without a doubt

But I will think of you
As I did all year long
Because you loved
Because you cared

  • Comment from author about the poem: I loved my best friend, who moved away and stopped contacting me. She loved me back, but it was the wrong timing and I ended up making a mess of things when I tried to say goodbye to her.
