A Room With A View

felines snuggled one blustery day
safe in their second floor dwelling
Surveying the rain-soaked streets below
A scene they find very compelling

a canopy covers a store front display
a gentleman waits in a doorway
timing his exit in hopes to stay dry
as he plans his next move toward the subway

the cats watch amused by this curious scene
while they purr unconcerned for his welfare
for they are content to be pampered inside
while this gentleman pines to be elsewhere

and while the clouds still hang thick in the sky
these siblings will soon change location
and snuggle instead in their master’s large bed
while they dream of a sun-drenched vacation
