Closing Time

MendedFences27

Closing Time

The clanging of the bell

or the flashing of the lights

can mean only one thing.

It’s closing time!

Closing the doors that are ajar.

Reversing every “Open” sign.

Setting the security alarm.

It’s closing time.

Last call at the bar.

The EJ goes offline.

Bouncers show exits with their arms.

It’s closing time.

Waitstaff engaged in table clearance.

Chefs run kitchen checks.

The lights are turned up bright.

It’s closing time.

The cast makes their final appearance.

The lights come up next.

The exit doors swing open to the night.

It’s closing time.

The news your doctor tells.

The news that keeps you up at night.

The news that spoils everything.

It’s the final closing time.

Hopefully, one door closes and another door opens!
