Profess

B. Frost

A declaration needed for ones self
The dust has buried the surface of the shelf

Hidden in webs that keep it together
Impact buried no value in treasure

The details lie in the back of the mind
A quilt of cover for no one to find

Discovery in light as it shines near
Kept at depths beneath it stay clear

The moments are suppressed below a thin layer
Exposed in abundance in a cloud that is grayer

No words derived in the pause to the stare Recalled in the memory with no one to share

A cold that beats above the under again           A notable difference in the time since then

Minutes remain with seconds to share  Outpace quickly a breath not to spare

The frayed ends are torched to burn
Between us two no need for concern

There in the distance not long do we feel         In a corner of the psyche a distant appeal

It lurks close by with no safety to find               An instant memory a path of decline

The haunting laugh is never far away
In the early years it commonly stayed

Years of sorrow for all to confess
In the darkness behind the shadows profess
