The Divide

AddieThomas100

A small line I shall prescribe,

And we shall call it the divide.

You may pleat all your knowing,

Behind this breadth which keeps growing.

You may hoard your gain,

Within this terrain,

Even that gathered from the other side,

Behind this line we may hide.

We must show no clemency,

Nothing will do but supremacy,

May the divide grow ever steep,

Too high to climb, too wide to leap.

Let fear keep you awake,

For make no mistake,

When the divide is breached,

Privileges will be impeached.

East vs. West,

Which is best?

North vs. South,

Word of mouth.

What rattles in his head?

Is that why he said what he said?

Patriotism, ‘wonderful’ insights!

Exercising ‘My’ rights.

 You told me to,

I followed you,

You wrote it down!

You wore a crown!

You told me to,

I followed you,

Exquisite speech,

The truth I beseech!

You created the divide,

You spoke with such pride,

Generations abided,

With the ‘knowledge’ you provided.

What say you?
Is all this true?

Silence........

Violence....

“What do you mean sub-divide?

Oh...... to include another side....”
