Fading Moonlight

A.D. Small

Fading Moonlight

When the dust settles and night falls
The dying laughter fades through the halls
And when the curtain closes the silence calls
Because I can't hear you breathing

When the moon fades and the stars can't shine
The poison was laced inside the drops of wine
And over the dying candlelight it is almost time
To watch the sad heart grieving

To see the tears dance in the wind
They fall down every Ivory bend
They cannot begin to help me mend
To stop this tired heart from bleeding

I can't dance to the music without you by my side
I can't move in the same circles like a tide
I can't see inside this ugly storm as I ride
This heart just keeps beating

Touching words. I can feel your sense of loss.

Thank you so much I appreciate your guy's comments. I wrote this poem for my step-dad after he passed. I was close to him. It hit me deep.
