Consequence

Carter M. Flynn

She felt no guilt no shame as he climbed off of her.

Just minutes earlier she was in the throws of raw animalistic carnal passion.

In between screams of ecstasy she glanced down at the shimmering diamond on her left hand, giggled at the thought of the man who placed that diamond on her finger.

The man now standing above her, admiring his work, was not that man.

That man wasn't half the man of the man above her, in so many ways.

She now caught his steady gaze.

His smile told her he was ready for more.

She rolled, and again he pleased her right down to her very core.

There were only two things the man who loved her brought to her life that gave her joy.

Financial stability, and their little boy.

Their little boy

He was the only reason for their rushed union.

She returned home

Their boy still away at school

The man who loved her arrival still hours away

She loathed him

Thought him such a fool

Her mind wandered back to her earlier rendezvous

Already planning her next adventure

Thinking about how often he pleases her

The man who loved her standing by

The blade in his raised hand brought down

again again and again

She fell to the floor with a thud and groan

Lifeless now covered in crimson

He'd known

He'd always known…
