Love’s Dance

Accidental Poet

From the day I first saw Sharon

My eyes euphoric trance

My heart in perfect step

Head over heels in love’s dance

No instruction manual

I’m at the will of Cupid’s aim

Forever enthralled

By the sound of Sharon’s name

Hidden behind my shyness

Cloaked in my disguise

But the truth be known

If she were to look into my eyes

Where this new love takes me

Of that I cannot say

All I do know is

How she makes me feel today

Dare I to foresee myself

There within her heart

That our future together

Never to depart

The roads we choose in life

Some say it’s fate, others of chance

With every step you take

Make it a loving dance

But this dance of love

I’ll cherish for all my life

Whether or not

Sharon becomes my wife

I know without a doubt

It’s a chance I’ll have to take

Win or lose she’s worth it

My dance of love, for love’s sake

Many a man scoffs at the thought of being a romantic.

But love for one woman will be his biggest weakness,

while also his greatest strength. – Accidental Poet

  • Comment from author about the poem: On my cell phone I have a couple of playlists. One, of all my favorite Rock & Roll songs called “Now THAT’S Rock & Roll”. The other, all my favorite love songs I dedicate to you know who, Sharon. I call it “The Rose of Sharon”. They all have a very strong and emotional pull on me in regards to Sharon. But there’s a few of them that stand out from all the others. The one I’ve chosen to go with this poem is one of those few very special songs by Garth Brooks. Please give it a listen, I believe you’ll find it well worth your time. Thank you, Accidental Poet.

Nice! Had a work colleague once named Sharon; tough as nails but always fair and kind. And one of my first notions of romance was when My Sharona came out in the late 70s. TFS
