The Party

A.D. Small

The Party

I didn't even want to go to your party
I don't like to dance
But it would have been nice if somebody invited me
Just to have the chance

I wanted to feel invited
To feel like I mattered
Behind a mask I hid
Even though the edges are tattered

I didn't even want to be there
To watch the others have fun
I just wanted to feel like someone cared
But apparently I have no one

No one wants to invite this girl
Like maybe there's something wrong with her
I don't play a part in anyone's world
The room begins to blur

All I wanted was to feel wanted
By at least someone out there
My feelings have been punted
Without a single care

No one sticks up for me
No one begs me to go
No one says it's she
That makes the party glow

But it would have been nice to have the thought
Like I was involved in your game
But like a mouse that's been caught
This feeling is all the same

No one wants this girl
To bring down the room
I was never a part of this world
Because I was part of the moon
