Have you ever plunged into the depths of despair 

Gave it all for someone you would find didn't care

Broke your heart beyond any real hope of repair 

Have you ever gave up on the dream 

 

Have you ever in moments when all on your own 

Dipped back into the defects you thought you'd outgrown

Smashed your hopes into pieces alongside your phone 

Have you ever gave up on the dream 

 

Have you ever deliberately blocked out the sun 

Cried through that type of pain you can never outrun 

Hoarded triggers without even owning a gun 

Have you ever gave up on the dream 

 

Have you ever been able to silence the dread 

Washing over you each time you climb into bed 

Felt those eyes burn a hole in the back of your head 

Have you ever gave up on the dream 

 

Would you ever allow me to help you unwind 

If it takes one to know one we're two of a kind 

Look in each other's soul and let's see what we find 

Soundly sleep then wake up to the dream

    Yes I think I've given up on the dream. This is such a brilliant poem! I like the line, "Dipped back into the defects you thought you'd outgrown" I mean every stanza has something I can relate to. I really like that last one.....thanks for taking me on a journey, Stevie! Christina

          If only that dream had a chance to become reality, but fear of the unknown can be a scary thing, but sometimes we have to take that chance and leap blindly into the beautiful flames, and become vulnerable and give that special someone that you can't get out of your mind a chance, give her a call let her convey all the emotions she holds inside so sacred and afraid to let loose, because of the pain of her past,
          Think about it, you know who I'm talking about
