“Never Enough”

Nicole H.

I tried to make people happy,

But it was never enough.

I would love and care endlessly,

But I was never enough.

I would cry just to be heard,

But it was never enough.

I would beg just to fit in,

But I was never enough.

I would beg for help,

But it was never enough.

I would ask for the truth,

But I was never enough.

I would ask people just to sit and listen,

But it was never enough.

I would ask for love,

But I was never enough.

I thought I was never enough,

But, really, people just never cared enough.
