A misguided version of you

sealydg

I don't know if its your reflection
What I desire, or what I treasure,
I can't distinguish
Your reality from what I've envisioned

I dreamt of you, for me
Someone different from who you are.
A person that you will never be
And that you will never shift

After all, I realize,
There's no room for idealization.
Every touch, every look
Occurred in my mind,
Entirely opposite of your reality.

And I was afraid to ask, if truly,
You were better or worse than I imagined,
Or if something between the two of us could have really happened.
But I guess, I never had the courage

Of stop looking at you from afar,
When I could have known your presence and stroke,
The ones you didn't show to everybody,
But I won't be able to know them now.
Because it's too
Late.
