BETRAYAL.

David Wakeling

That invested part of me, the sacred, silent part.

Hidden, sealed and lost, I have betrayed you!

You are the good, the eternal singing.

You are the closing of the eyes,

And the final acceptance of life.

You have no doorway open, I have betrayed you!

I have set demons with masks at the entrance to block your way,

You imitated them to try to escape but you are still hidden.

Saddened by the thought of the joy

You might have shared and the wonder you possess,

Still, I have lied before you and deceived in your name.

Leave me not to suffer this betrayal,

Of my own doing.

Reveal yourself, be born, that I might not

Bare the burden of life alone.
