My Dad Has Never Told Me

My dad has never told me he loves me

but he used to help me with my maths home-work

and used to play football with me on the park.

My dad has never told me he loves me

but when I ask for a minute of his time to help

he gives me an hour, a whole afternoon.

My dad has never told me he loves me

but that time I had car-trouble the week before pay-day

he silently handed me a cheque.

My dad has never told me he loves me

but he's the only one who has read all my stories

marking and scoring them in blue ink.

My dad has never told me he loves me

but the more I think about it as I get older

he's telling me all the time.

    Actions speak louder them words.

That's exactly it. Thanks for your comments.

I take your poem as autobiographic. You are lucky then! AND YOU CAN SAY IT!!

Your poem is awesome like you parents.

Aw thank you so much! 🙂

Not everyone knows how to express their love, except by going out of their way to help. Your parents were a lot like mine. Trust me, they love you very much. 😉

Thanks for your comments, AP. They do so much for me, to this day, that shows clearly how they feel. My friends have parents that end every conversation with I love you, but maybe don't show it the way my folks do. Cheers, Tom.

Like I said, some people don't always know how to express their love even to family. My parents and myself were guilty of that. But both my parents are gone now, and I'm a firm believer that love between Heaven and Earth knows no limitations. Love always finds a way. 😉👍
