Love is Like a Butterfly

 

Love is like a butterfly

your heart flutters like his wings

can’t stop it if you even try

but oh, what joy it brings.

 

Multicoloured like his coat

love shines through the mist

others may sit and try to gloat

but there not the ones who kissed.

 

The Butterfly tries to keep in touch

with all the pretty flowers

also tries so very much

to while away the hours.

 

We do the same when where in love

our feelings shown by our smile

to fit our hearts inside some sort of glove

and protect it all the while.

 

We flit from partner to partner;

it’s a habit I suppose

just like the Butterfly and his flowers

and our hearts always stops and goes

in as many hours.

 

Our feelings are so beautiful

like the Butterfly’s wings

makes us much more dutiful

and our heart beats fast and sings.

That feeling of true love it seems

is rich beyond compare

like our friendly Butterfly

we hardly know we are there.
