Out Of Place

Blue pen

Here I am,

An unsettled soul journeying

Not excluded,

But out of place.

Here I am,

Asking myself

Is it because I am different?

Or is it because I am unique?

Here I am,

Trying to find a place

In a world I know nothing about

Feeling like baby Jesus in a manger.

Now it's Christmas

Don't know how to celebrate,

In a new place

It's not like every other Christmas.

Here I am!

  • Comment from author about the poem: This poem means so much to me. After writing this poem, I was able to finally find who I am when other people are not around me. Finding myself after moving to a new country was really hard because I kept on moving on through everything happening without actually focusing on myself. This poem gave me an opportunity to find the me inside and stop trying to look for validation from other people.

Great poem! You got the right idea to focus within and not look to others for validation. It will bring peace.

Trying to fit in to new surroundings takes time, but where there is a will there is a way. Strange can turn to familiar, before you know it. Nicely expressed lines.

          Thank you
