Wordspikes

His smile a curious comfort like so much loose change
a pocket full for any day when sunshine needed a bloom

eyes sparkled easily
laughter too, in many colours

personalities came and went
as fashion caste his song amongst the backdrop of his life's curtain falls

the ever-evolving scenes a constant
though nothing ever really changed

that cheeky mischief maker façade
a clever cover for his honest yet philosophical view

his shadow caste long across our paths
his voice carried his tales true and false

he weathered occasional rain,
fell, as we do, in and out of loves

wore his larrikins hat like a phantoms mask
but always was so damned human

gone is the artwork of his carefree footsteps
gone is the crackle of life below his languid gait

the laughter which helped light any room
a wit to cut the core of any nonsense

taken by the night which covered his departure
so that the morning was left to let us know that he was gone
