Poisonous Praise

mtrotter1

I am not defeated

By your poisonous praise

And I am not threatened

By your spirits;

For to cope

Is to leave myself alone

Within the praise of your depths

And love is the classic bully

That ignites the heart

I believe these words are spoken

For a reason

And my heart glows entirely

To the words that you speak

Oh poisonous praise,

I die and I cave

For this society is one big rave

Don't you agree?

For I praise no one

And I dig a deeper hole

For I am no one,

For it is a trait of desire

That doesn't exist

The fight that means something

The page that never turns

And the fire that burns

Is prevalent to my trial

And many roses die

Because I'm not willing to fly...

And this is the love

That never learns,

For we are all a victim

Of poisonous praise,

For the praise within is vital.

Do you love me?

Or do you tolerate me?

The best joy is within the crows

Desperately seeking for their next prey

And laughing at the fool...

Oh what a tool

This relationship,

Is it worth fixing?

For I have died many times

In your poisonous praise

And I have accepted the fact

That I am nothing;

Oh cure me of this innocent cheer

What innocent praise

Comes to shore?

For I have learned nothing

And I have seen nothing

In the deaths of your innocent praise

So what is your poison exactly,

And what is your cause as we speak?

Do you regret ignoring me

In my desperate times of need?

Do you love me more

Than you praise?

For praise is not poisonous

Unless you deem it to hell

And what is left undone

Will get killed...

Oh darling praise

Do you speak my way?

Am I the blood

On the kitchen floor?

Wake up...wake up

As they say

That blind men

Marry the craziest women

For you see not an illusion,

For you see me as bait

And we are not married now...

Oh my thoughts are a leaking faucet

To your praise...

I can only hope for more.
