Growing Up

M. Evermore

I feel as if I’ve grown

Almost an adult

Growing up, growing old

What’s the difference?

I feel as if I’m doing both

A child no more,

Leaving sunny days behind

The eternal summer of happiness

Gone

And I go

Out and into the world,

Ready to face the seasons of

Real life

No longer the season of innocence

But the year of living

The beginning

A second chapter,

A new story

No longer tales of unreality

Time to face reality

Is there fear there?

There is certainly

Excitement

Traveling to new places

Learning what it means to live

This is the beginning of the rest of my life

And it’s cold and bright

Warm and dark

Comforting and exotic

Am I ready?

Will I ever be?

This is my beginning

Of me living

Of that,

I’m ready
