Is It The Dog Or Me?

mtrotter1

There is love

On every road,

And there is a rose

On every street;

I feel I am a dog

On the side of the road,

Yet I feel my spirit

Is me;

Sunflowers falling from the sky

Will I ever see the sun shine

Again?

Does my spirit move me?

Does this life fulfill me?

Does a hit dog holler,

Or is it me?

For I try to be a human being

But it's so hard

Out here;

I wonder if I'll see you again

Dad.

  • Comment from author about the poem: Sometimes I feel like I don't belong in this world, but it's important for me to keep on pushing. Have you ever felt ignored, out of place, or just plain awkward? For I feel all three. I don't know my father, but I see him in my dreams. I often wonder if he thinks about me, or if he knows I exist. Sometimes I feel like I am a waste of time, though it's nice to know that I may be a blessing in people's lives. Writing poetry and talking to God keeps me alive. And I am so thankful for the two. I know that the sun will shine again, and my heart will prosper. Thanks.

      Beautiful. You aren't alone in your feelings. Very relatable.
