Preserving that One Piece of ME

If  we were to be in love, I would not dedicate my favorite songs to you during a memorable night.

Music is my source of joy and it never dies or fades away but one day our love might.

And in the event of that, I want to be able to listen to my old songs and be at peace.

It doesn’t mean I have no faith in us, understand that please, 

But I would rather not turn the things that once made me happy into things that would only remind me of you, because if I did that, my hurt would be multiplied by two.

 

I would give you the world, for love's sake

But to give you my songs is a risk I won’t take.

If we are ever apart, you’ll always live in my heart

But in my mind and my vein, you can’t remain. 

 

You’ll know that I'll love you forever but my songs are what keeps me together.

So forgive me if that’s a piece of my life I won’t give to you 

Because if we part ways and I hear those songs, 

Then my life will forever remain blue,

And that’s a nightmare I just do not wanna see come through.
