If I Say

Felix Ogechi

If I say, morning sunshine

It's because I wish you will stay till moonshine

If I say, you brighten my day

It's because I want us to be till grey

If I say, let's pitch together a tent

It's because you give me strength

Let's sing beautiful songs

Let's dream beautiful things

If I hum till midnight crows

It's because my heart chose you.

  • Comment from author about the poem: This poem is inspired by the inner musings of a man. It seems rare for men to be quite expressive with their feelings but when they do, the wordings are one thing, the genuinety is another. Ever seen a man in love? This poem is just a brief capture of a man's assurance to his woman of the things that if he says, she is the reason. Ultimately his heart has chosen her.
