Appointed Anointing

Tune: Little Cornard

('Hills of the north, rejoice')

Luke 4 v.16-21

Jesus did teach one day

At Nazareth, did say

In synagogue He read

He by the Spirit led

Speaking some of Isaiah's words

The congregation they all heard

The Spirit of the Lord

Is upon me, the word

Is true, it because He

Has anointed me, see

To preach the gospel to the poor

To heal the broken-hearted sure

And deliverance preach

Unto the captives reach

Recovering of sight

To the blind, give them light

To set at liberty the bruised

And peace to those oppressed, confused

To preach acceptable

Year of Lord, here for all

Then said to them, This day

This scripture here shall stay

It be fulfilled in your hearing

These graces does the Spirit bring
