Wake Up Call

Katdream

Worthlessly wondering
unmindful of the laughter
or devastation
or antipathy
robot carousers
peeking through the veil
yet not understanding
what surrounds them
what awaits their responsiveness
what brings some to their knees
or others to delight

Those that cannot feel the suffering passions
of a million lonely hearts
those that cannot overhear the reveling
of the quiet ones who bring us joy
those that cannot bear relationships
that bring affection and companionship
appear only as worn stones
comatose, drained, unresponsive
never to awaken
until tenderness becomes their partner
and fear no longer portends

    Excellent work. Rich in imagery.

A bit on the melancholy side. But, much of my poetry is. Thank you for sharing your thoughts! I appreciate it very much. Still working through your book. Just finished reading The Neighbor....laughed out loud at the last 3 lines! We poets are, for the most part, very gently (and old) souls. But, I would haved been pissed off too!
