Pizza and Pine Trees

Red017

The sun bids farewell to the horizon's glow.

As the rooster heralds dawn's early show,.

I inhale the aroma of pizza, so near.

Its sweetness stirs in me a yearning, so clear.

Into the kitchen, where my mother bakes with delight,

And her father admires her with pure and bright love.

My clan, my kin, gathered in our cozy nest,

Welcome me with "Merry Christmas!" and smiles—their very best.

I beam back at them, "Merry Christmas to all!"

Then I retreat to my chamber, feeling ten feet tall.

Arranging my azure pillows and quilts of rainbow hue,

I wake up from my dream, realizing it's not true.

I gaze out my flat's window; the city sparkles like a gem.

With festive lights, a pine tree, and Santa's snowy hem.

The street is bustling with life in its unique rhythm.

Some converse, some chuckle, some sigh, and some brim.

A wave of sorrow and solitude washed over my heart.

I wish for a real Christmas, a chance for a fresh start.

But I know it's not in the cards; it's only in my mind.

I was born into a fractured family where love is hard to find.

So I shut my eyes and dreamed again of a life filled with joy and hope.

And then I hear a rap on the door and a voice.

says, "It's me, your boy."

Dreams can be cruel. Christmas time can be cruel for the lonely too. Your poem ended on a more uplifting note. Beautifully penned.
