this feeling
quiet, safe, small
you’re in the kitchen
shuffling footsteps down the hall
fall asleep in front of the tv
you love me
old and familiar
won’t be here forever
this house, this fake leather couch
fraying at the seams
has been here
since I was born
you’re old
and so frail sometimes
where will i go?
to muffle the noise
when strangers walk these floors
and you haunt me behind every door
when you exist
only in my memory
will I one day forget
this feeling?
