Winter Solstice

ryanhimself

A dark grey sky looms over a cold winters day

A cool breeze kisses off an old tin roof

Frozen branches remain naked as spring stays aloof

The birds down south have gone their way

In the winters still the river flows

The suns reflection brings rays of hope

Darkest before the dawn is that common trope

A distant light as the cold grows

The sun is so quick to hide behind the land

The dim light now only shines over the hills

Cold darkness has no remorse for the light it kills

Faint not in time, for spring is at hand
