THE DICHOTOMY OF DECEMBER

@merci

The Dichotomy of December.

Birds are singing,

Trees are swaying in the wind's direction,

Shiny lights are everywhere,

Christmas is coming.

People are dancing and laughing everywhere,

Christmas is coming.

Everyone is buying new clothes and shoes,

To go to church on Christmas.

Cattle and chickens are being slaughtered,

Everyone eats meat on Christmas,

Rice and potatoes are being bought,

That’s what we eat on Christmas.

Choirs are rehearsing,

And Christmas trees are being bought,

Our homes are brightening due to Christmas trees.

Christmas is coming.

“Jingle bells, jingle bells” is the topmost song,

Everything looks fine.

I can’t wait for Christmas.

Where everyone will be wearing their newest clothes

With happy faces wearing smiles.

On the other side, I am here,

I am not sure even if I will have something to eat tomorrow,

So, worrying about Christmas doesn’t matter,

In fact, I don’t care.

Maybe on Christmas, I will get someone to invite me into their home,

If not, I will suffer as usual,

I mean, not eating one day doesn’t mean the end of the world.

Who cares?

At least if you ever have leftovers on Christmas,

Remember to call me; I will eat it,

Because I am hungry and there is no one who cares about me,

So, do something; I don’t want to be fighting with hunger.

While others are celebrating.
