Afterglow

thom2322

Where did my life go?

Like a scatter of light, my childhood has flowed

away, and never slowed.

My memories feel like a puppet show,

repeated over and over until the former joy is thrown

away. The dominos

in my mind are tumbling, they crash and never stop crashing, only leaving room for afterglow.

No more joy, no more childhood, no more glow.

Where did my childhood go?

Oh

what I would give for that scatter of light to come back, and submerge me in its idyllic glow.

  • Comment from author about the poem: This poem stems from the inevitable and often too fast passage of time. When writing it, I found myself thinking back to old memories, yet, in a way, they weren\\\'t as clear as they used to be - almost like an afterglow. And here we are.
