To My Father
Way back when, you were still a handsome young man.
I came into your life, way back then.
Even though I wasn’t part of your plan,
Why haven’t you stayed, why have you ran?
I know in love I was not conceived, we’re both victims of this,
we were both deceived.
Life is a cruel game humans play,
not realizing often who in the end will pay.
So you moved on with your life, and you lived it well.
As my life began in this earthly living hell.
‘Do you want to go? Do you want to stay?’ No one asked me.
As she took me away.
Shortly after again you became a father!
And so did she, she too became a mother!
You both ran into the future. You ran fast!
The only problem…was me, inconvenient stain from the past.
And so from the beginning I was unwanted daughter to my father,
and a great burden to my mother!
With my innocence of childhood I paid for the sin in which I was created.
Watching others be loved while I was hated.
Your other children were born innocent and pure,
knowing they’re loved and secure.
Now time has moved, and years have passed.
But the deep scars you’ve left me will forever last.
You did not teach me how to love and be loved!
This I’ve learned from my real Father from Above.
He showed me my value with all he has done,
for me He even gave His Firstborn Son!
Because of Him, my life is not a tragic story.
And with Him by my side I have nothing to worry.
Now my mother is up in her age,
I think she’s finally learned to let go of her rage.
And you, rest in peace, you’re safe and sound.
Soon in resurrection you’ll be back from the ground.
I look forward welcoming you with my arms wide open.
To an everlasting friendship between a father and a daughter is what I’m hoppi’n.

- Comment from author about the poem: This is a poem to my father. He died suddenly two years ago. We had just began rebuilding our relationship but it was cut short. I missed him and I wanted him to know that even though I was hurt all those years, now I’m ok and I miss him and I still look forward to the day I see his smiling face again.

This is quite sad but it is a common tale. Most people are accidents.I mean who would choose to be born into this house of misery.Still you managed to stay positive.Well done
