Rose Williams and the fragile heart.

David Wakeling

Tennesee Williams: “I never want to see your ugly face again.”
Rose: Oh no, Tom no, no, no don’t say that. I love you so much.
You are my voice. I cannot speak without you,
Your angry with me. Oh why Tom why.
Is it Father who has riled you so?
We always stuck together against Father.
Please don’t leave me alone Tom.
I’ll go at him with a carving knife then Tom will love me again.

Tennesee Williams: “Put your candles out Laura”
Rose: I’m okay really I don’t like the idea of an operation on my brain.
That sounds too horrible for words.
Tom I need you, God knows I need you.
I have only my memories.

Tennesee Williams: “I heard you offer yourself to Colin, and I want you to know that
you disgust me.
Rose:I know I used to tell far-fetched tales but I meant no harm.
Please Tom forgive me.
We were happy together weren’t we? I used to love when
you told me stories and poems. You’re so clever Tom.
Oh Tom I have trouble speaking without you.
I know Tom I lie all the time. I can’t help it it’s my way.
But like your play Blanche says I never lied in my heart.
Please Tom I am drowning.
Tennesee Williams“God forgive me for this”
