Raise

2781

Raise me up and take me when I'm gone

Let me be one of your chosen

And I will be your song

To praise you forever more

For everything you've done

Raise me up and take me when I'm gone.

Raise me up and take me when I'm gone

You know that I love you

Like you I can become

Don't let me be presumptuous

By grace you lead us on

Raise me up and take me when I'm gone.

Raise me up and take me when I'm gone

But in this life keep me

From what the world's become

Sheltered under your wing

My race with you to run

Raise me up and take me when I'm done.

This feels liek it could be set to a hymn-tune. Shall I, if one comes to mind?
Maybe it's an 8.8.8.8. or a 3.8.5.6. or 32.34.95.68. or summat like that. Depends how many syllables in each line.

Well, it fits to 9.6.6. 6.6.9. if I amended line 2 of stanza 1, which has 8 syllables at present.
But it's a tricky one - I can't think of any hymns with that meter.

This prayer or poem, which ever you wish, is a plea for acceptance and recognition well written.
