Legacy

E Naughton

I see you there

A moth I think

As I decide to spark a flame,

Flying to your destiny,

Not knowing if there's blame,

Did you will yourself toward my flame?

Or was it by design?

Did you do as she intended?

Or beat, our mothers cries!

Blackened now,

Before my eyes,

A simple thought does pass,

Will I fly or turn away,

Can any choose their path!

The question of destiny a good start. The image of a flame does it burn the one you attract or just bring them close? So many thoughts to think. Good write.

I like your take, I was thinking of free will or the lack thereof! Self compassion and forgiveness here. The question this poem is asking is, could we have done things differently? Probably not, as we can only do what we know when we are in a certain time and place in life.
