Road to oblivion

domilla

In the shadow of a broken love, I stood alone,
he was everything, he felt like home,
but he moved on, and left me in the past,
Yet my devotion was steadfast.

Through every tempest, my love stood strong,
A love unyielding, enduring all that was wrong.
In that dance of folly, I danced the fool's ballet,
Even when all he wanted was just to play.
I yearned to move forward, to break these chains,
Forget the love, that spread through my veins.

So, in the quiet of a lonely night fall,
I drank, I wanted to give that one call.
To tell him I miss him, that it is hard to just stay strong,
Then blame it on the alcohol, a choice so wrong.

With each sip, my troubles would fade,
In the hazy abyss, my demons delayed.
But the numbness I sought, it came with a cost,
In the darkness, a part of me was lost.

in those empty glasses, I couldn't see,
The true path to freedom, the way to be free.
Oblivion offered no peace, it offered no grace,
Just a temporary solace in a boundless space.

The road to oblivion, though tempting and was near,
Lead to emptiness and caused so much fear.
Moving on was better, to no longer seek refuge in the glass,
Find strength and free myself at last.
But through the haze of intoxication's art,
I discovered that healing must begin in my own heart.
