Little things we do…

Little things we do…

I look up, there you are.

Sitting so close, yet somehow so far.

Your quiet gaze is reeling me in,

I want to resist, but still I cannot win.

On you patiently I’m waiting, cheerfully anticipating,

But with every absent look from you all my hopes are fading.

I question my actions, did I do something wrong?

So I try to drown your cold silence with your favorite song.

As I sing to myself, and am about to walk away,

“You sing so beautifully” you suddenly say.

I smile in surprise as my dismay is melting away, “For you I’ll sing everyday” I cheerfully say.

Now your distant look has departed,

Assuring me you’re still happy and warm-hearted.

Bringing you happiness is what I desire,

But for this, your undivided attention sometimes I require.

Again, I look up and still there you are,

Still sitting so close, and no longer too far.

When doubts about friendship melts away and the sun shines again. I enjoyed your poem.
