Everyday

Meera Mere

Every day I chase voices in my head,

Every day I learn how love should be,

And forget why it starts with me

Every day I validate myself pretending to be free.

Every day I spend my days high bluffing not to recall.

Every day I escape after vowing to live a little

But promises are made to be broken

Trust to be shattered, love to be forgotten.

And the poetry to be immortal.

Every day I forget life is a turbulent roller coaster

That I expected to be a tranquil one

But every day I tune in for there is no choice

Every day I smile for it is bridge to eschew gratuitous noise

There are days I wish to be deaf but then I listen to the singing birds

There are days I witness fading love, but I accredit books

Every day I regret escaping, then I love it for dreams are the ungratified fantasy

That I wished to live at least once before I fade.

  • Comment from author about the poem: Sometimes life feels to mundane, repeating loops everyday. Everyday I promise to love myself to live for myself and then seek for the same from others. Sometimes I crave that attention. Sometimes I want to prove myself to people I don't even know or care about. Would love to hear your thoughts about your journey!
