The Burden My Words Weighed

Meera Mere

I cried when I said I was fine,

I lied when I said I knew what was mine.

I sighed when I said I was wrong,

Cause I didn't want to drag it along.

I went numb when I said I hadn't slept,

I hid when I said I hadn't wept.

I slept when I said I couldn't,

I got up when I said I shouldn't.

I wiped my eyes when they went teary,

I bled when I said it wasn't sheary.

I stabbed myself when I said I was okay,

I doubted myself when I said I wasn't low-key.

  • Comment from author about the poem: Sometimes when I say I am fine, I am not. I might say it didn't hurt but I bled. Sometimes life is all about this. Would love to know your views on the poem.
