For The Lady In My Dreams.

Hammas Ullah

One can say,

It was a very dark day.

When she tore my heart apart by her harsh words, And turned her gentle face away.

I slept not at night the way I used to-I had never felt so detached from life before.

The night of hopelessness followed, I laid on the death bed of my passions; discordant voices filled my room,

the damned spirits of lovers whispered advices in my ear.

I hearkened to the final verdict of my sane mind:

In my wretched world, she will not be.

How fierce were her eyes when she looked at me.

One can say,

It was a very dark day.

I will forget you slowly,

The lady of my dreams, I will not recognise you.

The white roses in my heart grow with pain, I cannot exchange any last words with you.

The world is moving fast.

I have humbly forgotten you.
