Messiah's Ministry

Tune: Carol (Willis)

('It came upon the midnight clear')

Isaiah 9 v.2-7 parts

********

The people that walked in darkness

Have seen great light, no less

They that in the land of shadow

Of death dwell, now do tell

That upon them has the light shined

The Light of life divine

Dispelling blackness, gloom, and fear

Messiah's birth appears

For the Lord He has multiplied

The nation, not denied

Them joy, it be as he harvest

Joy, they are truly blessed

And it be like when conquering

Armies their spoil do bring

In celebration victory

The Messiah all see

The yoke of the people's burden

Be broken, they set free

And weapons wherewith enemy

Oppressed, now destroyed be

For unto us a child is born

Bringing redemption's dawn

Unto us is given a son

Jesus the holy one

And He shall rule and reign for e'er

His kingdom decrease ne'er

His name shall be called Wonderful

And Counsellor to all

The Mighty God, the Prince of Peace

Whose rule shall never cease

He the Father everlasting

Here let His praises ring
