An Abomination

Keith Jeffries

An Abomination

I am an abomination in the sight of the Lord,

because I love another which is untoward.

I was born this way which I cannot explain,

but this has been throughout my life a source of pain.

I have suffered prejudice and ridicule,

as my heart aches and my tears form a pool.

My soul has been scarred because of whom I love,

but I cannot believe that I am judged from above.

Deep in my heart I know the Lord loves me,

because what he has created is in me.

The hatred and loathing comes from ignorance,

those who think they are normal in their arrogance.

We cannot tell others in whose arms they should rest,

because love is something sent by heaven and blessed.

I am not an abomination in God's sight,

because he tells me I am perfectly alright.
