Unpredictable in their reactions
Something unseen but still missing
A hollow look in their eyes
Perhaps from past misgivings
Publicly acting to fit in
Creating a kind persona for their peers
Only those living with them know them
To immediate family crystal clear
The unaffected participate in the charade
Only seeing what they choose
Ignoring the truth that is suffered
The powerless ones sadly lose
What is unfit not seen by outsiders
No identifying the fault with them
Easier to see what isn’t there
The absent trait itself condemns
The flaw showing the bitter truth
No mystery or complicated fog
While looking for what is obvious
Know they never had love for dogs
