A Love of Another Life

IDiotwriters

Your eyes caught mine
Your deep brown haunted eyes
And in them I saw us
I saw our home
Our children
I saw joy I saw hate
And pain
I saw a beautiful abstract life
And in my greening blue eyes, you saw
Something too
You saw a glimpse into a possible future
A possible reality
You smiled as did I
Because only we knew of the life we should’ve had
And when the traffic light turned green
I watched in horror as the love of another life drove away
Your eyes were brown the kind of brown that leaves you wondering of everything that should’ve been
