A Fallen Leaf

Wordspikes

light finds its way through myriad webs of flora In dancing ways
I am in the quiet coolness of a shaded world
each shape around me a puzzle piece placed delicately by natures careful hand
a meandering breeze the quite conveyer of sound and smell
an enchanted eternal song, a silence full of sound
unseen eyes fall upon me, attuned to any presence
listening, observing, without any betrayal of their hidden world
pure moisture drops amongst every hanging form
the dampness a purveyor of sustenance, nourishment, and life
peaceful solitude comforts me as I fall through this world
deep sleep beckons for I am a weary soul
all my colour and beauty gone without recourse
I am transformed from a leaf on a high branch
to a lifeless skeleton nestled in the debris of lives given for the greater cause
I turn to yellow and then to brown
as I contemplate my purpose and my part
content I meld with other fallen organisms and continue the wonderous circle of life
